Description
Alligare Diquat – Liquid Herbicide & Algaecide
*recommended for submerged weeds, duckweed, and algae.
A fast-acting, non-selective contact herbicide containing the active ingredient Diquat Dibromide (37.3%). It is widely used for controlling a broad spectrum of emergent, floating, and submerged weeds in both aquatic and landscape environments.
Key Features
- Mode of Action: As a contact herbicide, Diquat interferes with photosynthesis in the green plant tissue, causing rapid desiccation. Visible effects can appear within a few hours to a couple of days, with complete control in 1 to 15 days, depending on the weed type and conditions.
- Selectivity: It is non-selective and will kill most plants it contacts; therefore, application requires care to avoid desirable vegetation.
- Aquatic Use: It is highly recommended for ponds, lakes, drainage ditches, and canals. When used according to label instructions, it is non-toxic to fish and wildlife, with minimal water use restrictions (e.g., no swimming restrictions)
- Landscape Use: It is also used for non-selective weed control, burn-down, and as a trim and edge tool along driveways, fence lines, and around ornamental gardens.
- Surfactant Requirement: For best results, it should be mixed with a non-ionic surfactant to ensure complete coverage and absorption by the target weeds. See our product Cide Kick II for more information.
Application Considerations
- Timing: Apply to actively growing, young weeds for optimal results. Application on a sunny day is best as the product works by interfering with photosynthesis.
- Coverage: Thorough contact and complete coverage of the target weeds are essential for control, as it is a contact herbicide.
- Water Use Restrictions: None on Swimming or Fishing. Irrigation 5 Days.
- Safety: Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling the concentrated product. Do not allow people or pets into treated areas until 24 hours after application.
- Do Not stir up mud or bottom sediment during the treatment.
