More than a colorant. Aquashade® Aquatic Plant Growth Control is a precise EPA registered blend of dyes proven to control underwater aquatic plants by limiting sunlight available for photosynthesis.

• Application
• Pour directly into water. Dispersion can be accelerated by applying in several areas around the treatment site, or allowing fountains/aerators to run.
• For best results, apply early in the season, prior to plant germination.
• For use in: natural and manmade contained lakes and ponds (ornamental, recreational, fish bearing & fish farming bodies) with little or no outflow of water.

How Aquashade Works and Benefits

Aquashade is not an algaecide or herbicide that kills existing growth but rather a proactive treatment that prevents future growth by inhibiting photosynthesis.

Aquashade blue dye, is an EPA-registered pond dye used to suppress the growth of underwater weeds and algae by blocking sunlight. It colors the water a pleasing aqua-blue and is safe for fish, livestock, and swimming.

• Mechanism: It is a precise blend of blue and yellow dyes that specifically screens out the red-orange and blue-violet portions of the sunlight spectrum required by underwater aquatic plants and algae for photosynthesis.
• Effectiveness: It is most effective in water deeper than two feet and should ideally be applied early in the season before plant germination begins. It can reduce aquatic biomass by up to 84% when used as directed.
• Safety & Use: The product is non-toxic and safe for fish, pets, livestock, and wildlife. Water treated with Aquashade can be used for swimming (after 24 hours), fishing, irrigation, and watering animals with no restrictions. It is also non-corrosive and will not stain bathing suits or fountain surfaces at use dilution
