• Algae & Weed Control: Like other pond dyes, it acts as a “natural sunscreen” for the water, filtering sunlight to help decrease nuisance growth of weeds and algae blooms.
• Safety: The dye is generally recognized as safe (GRAS) for fish, waterfowl, pets, and wildlife when used at the recommended dosage rates. It is EPA approved for aquatic use.
• Application & Longevity: It is easy to apply; simply pour the liquid or toss the water-soluble pouches directly into the water, and natural water movement disperses the dye within a few hours. • Limitations: Pond dye does not work on surface-based plants like water lilies or duckweed or emergent plants like cattails. It may also be less effective in ponds with excessive mud.
